Museums

Ruse (also spelled Russe, Rousse, Roussé) is located at 25 km from hotel Royal Palace. The city offers many museums and the city itself is in a way architectural museum. The central part of the city is composed of buildings from the beginning of XXth and the end of the XIXth century. Among the buildings on the main street one can find the architectural styles of Baroque and Rokoko. The architecture of the Ruse is highly influenced by the Viennese architecture. A good place to start your trip is precisely the main street - Alexandrovska str. (also spelled Aleksandrovska). From there you can easily navigate to the large number of museums located in the city.

Regional historical museum Ruse

The museum is located in the beginning of Alexandrovska street - at Batenberg square. The square itself is surrounded by three monuments of the architecture - the building of the museum, the building of the regional library and the school "Khristo Botev".

Museum of the city way of life

The museum is located at 36, Ferdinand str.. In the museum you can enjoy exhibits from the 19th and the beggining of the 20th century that were present in the everyday life of the people from the city. Each room from the museum is decorated in a different style, representing the interior decorations of the Bulgarian city in the last centuries.

House-museum "Zakhari Stoyanov"

The museum "Zakhari Stoyanov" is dedicated to one of the most prominent personalities in the struggle of the Bulgarian people for independence from the Ottoman empire - Grandma' Tonka Obretenova and her family. In the museum you can enjoy personal belongings, documents, photos and weapons from the 18th to the 20the century. The museum is located at 14, Pridunavski blvd..

Pantheon of the National Revival Heroes

The Pantheon is located at 2, Nish str. just next to the park of the National Revival Heroes., where you can enjoy clean air and calmness in the city center of Ruse. The Pantheon is an ossuary of the Bulgarian revolutionaries and cultural leaders. Among the buried are: Grandma' Tonka Obretenova, Angel Kunchev, Lyuben Karavelov, Zakhari Stoyanov and many others.

Museum of the Transport

On 5, Bratya Obretenovi str. is located the only in Bulgaria Museum of the Transport. At the end of the 19th century is build the first railway in Bulgaria - Ruse - Varna. Namely in its first stop is located the museum. There are a number of exhibits revealing the development of railway and water transport in Bulgaria. Among the exhibits are engines and carriages f numerous important at the time people.

Sexaginta Prista

"Sexaginta Prista" is antique Roman castle and port. The archeologists have discovered that the place has been resettled numerous times across the ages the earliest settlement dating a few centuries B.C.. In the exhibition you can see remains of a city wall, fortified tower and several buildings.
